mNOW! Command Center
The mNOW! Command Center is the primary administrative interface for the mNOW! Mobile Framework®. Through it, users can visually monitor the status and health of their mobile solutions; organize, manage, and monitor their mobile device community; centrally view and control remote devices; build, provision and monitor deployment packages; and view, publish and print a variety of key reports.
By providing a broad set of enterprise services in a unified administration environment, mNOW! significantly reduces the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) traditionally associated with enterprise mobile deployments by eliminating the cost and maintenance of 3rd party device and server management solutions.
The mNOW! Command Center consists of a set of four (4) distinct management Plug Ins (System Dashboard, Device Manager, Package Builder, and Report Viewer) that each focus on a specific aspect of the framework for mNOW!-based mobile enterprise solutions.
Modules
System Dashboard
The System Dashboard allows an administrator to monitor several Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in aggregate or for individual servers for a quick visual overview of overall system health and performance.
Device Manager
The Device Manager displays information regarding all known mobile devices and allows an administrator to provision mobile applications and deployment packages, create logical groupings of mobile devices, and to control access to the system on a per mobile device basis (authorized vs. unauthorized). The Device Manager provides metrics around device state, deployment history, device errors, and communications activity. This information is presented in a variety of manners ranging from graphs, tables, and detail pages. The Device Manager also provides a Remote Control capability to allow an administrator to connect to a remote device and see what the end user sees, and to take control of the device for troubleshooting or training purposes.
Package Builder
The Package Builder Plug In allows an administrator to create and manage deployment packages that will be assigned to device communities by the Device Management Plug In. Deployment Packages contain any number of objects (files, applications, images, assemblies, installers) and a set of scripts that allow fully customizable installation and removal of the package contents when received by a mobile device.
These scripts can be used to adjust settings on the mobile device, manipulate files, install or remove third party applications, update XMLR application scripts, and even update any component of the mNOW! Mobile Framework itself. Packages created with the Package Builder Plug In can be assigned to device groups, scheduled for deployment, installed and removed while monitored continuously for status and failures from within the Device Management Plug
Report Viewer
The Report Viewer allows an administrator to select and view a variety of exception-based system reports such as Communications Exceptions, Integration Exceptions, Incomplete Data Transfer Sessions, and Non-communicative Devices as well as other general reports such as Device Summary Information and Device Activity. These reports are customizable and extendable through Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.
