Washington Group International selects Blue Dot’s mNOW!® Mobile Framework for Mobile RFID Initiative

March 3, 2007, Denver, CO – Washington Group International (WGI) Inc, a leading provider of integrated engineering, construction, and management solutions for businesses and governments worldwide, has selected Blue Dot’s mNOW!® Mobile Framework for a strategic mobile RFID for Preventative Maintenance initiative.

WGI has contracted Blue Dot’s Professional Services Group to tailor the mNOW! RFID for Preventative Maintenance Mobile Business Application to meet certain unique WGI business requirements. Additionally, WGI will contract with Blue Dot to provide other key components of the mobile RFID solution, including ruggedized mobile devices, RFID tags and readers, mNOW! Mobile Framework software infrastructure, integration, implementation services, and solution support.

The RFID for Preventative Maintenance solution will deliver a mobile application to collect engine hour readings via Active RFID tags within range of the Psion Teklogix WorkAbout Pro ruggedized mobile device. The solution will display specific equipment information to the user (e.g. equipment ID, unit #, serial # cumulative engine run hours, and collection date/time.) and submit the collected data to a central server for integration into JD Edwards World solution. Additionally, the mobile application will support WGI-specific requirements such as the collection of inventory usage data such as re-filling fuel, lubricant and antifreeze dispensation tanks.

Once deployed, the RFID for Preventative Maintenance will replace a current manual intensive process with a highly efficient and accurate automated process expected to save time and money by increasing the timeliness and accuracy of data used to determine maintenance schedules.
